At St. Andrews, you basically can pick and chose which classes are available to you. Once you declare your major and know what you want to do, tutorials are available in the necessary subjects. These tutorials can range anywhere from just you and the professor, to a whole classroom full of people with your same interests. I’m part of the 3-2 Mathematics and Engineering Program with St. Andrews and NC State. Most people don’t reach a fifth level of calculus so having these tutorials available make the learning experience more personal.

Extracurricular

I play softball, tutor for mathematics, and help frequently with community service.

 

Why St. Andrews?

It’s a small school and most experiences you receive here you won't experience at a larger school.

Faculty

Professor Harris is one of my favorite professors here at St. Andrews. He has a strong passion for mathematics and would do anything to help me understand the material. I had several tutorials with him and he would spend hours upon hours outside the classroom to try to help me grasp the information.

Experiences

The experience that meant most to me was my birthday freshman year. The trend on campus is that when it’s your birthday, you get thrown in the lake. I was carried from the cafeteria to the lake to be thrown in like tradition called for.

Internship

. I worked with NASA and helped fix and build robots that test pollution in the atmosphere.
